At the Center for Korean Policy and Social Studies, we take pride in our team of dedicated research fellows. Each fellow brings a unique expertise and perspective, united by a common mission: to enhance the understanding of social science research and policy analysis as it relates to Korean studies. Our dynamic team is not only passionate but also committed to pioneering innovative research that addresses critical issues and fosters informed policy decisions. Through collaborative efforts, our research fellows work together to produce impactful findings that contribute to both academic scholarship and practical applications in the field.

Jinyoung Jason Hwang, Ph.D.

President & 
Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Hwang served as an economic analyst at the National Assembly Budget Office of the Republic of Korea and is currently practicing tax accounting and environmental law in the United States. He has authored numerous government reports and academic papers on various fields, including Korean politics, economics, and law.

Jeff S. Baik, 
Ph.D.

Distinguished Research Fellow
 

Dr. Baik is an engineer and technical engineer working in Korea and the United States. He has a keen interest in civil engineering and engineering in general, and is conducting research that approaches the growing interest in ESG from an engineering perspective.

Josh K. Shin, Ph.D.

Senior Research Fellow

 

Dr. Shin is a safety engineering expert with extensive experience in SolidWorks, fundamental CAE, fluid mechanics, and materials science and engineering.

Jaeseok Ahn, Esq.

Senior Research Fellow

 

Mr. Ahn is a patent attorney (U.S. and South Korea). Additionally, he holds a degree in engineering and provides legal advice to several global companies, with a keen interest in patents and intellectual property rights.

Ms. Jung S.
Park, M.A.

Research Fellow

 

Ms. Park earned her master's degree in history and has worked on numerous history-related projects. She also has research interests in social and theological fields.

Ms. Kathy
Choi, M.A.

Research Fellow

 

Ms. Choi is a pharmaceutical development expert with experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) fields. She also serves as an outside legal consultant for a legal consulting company.

Ms. Chae Rin Lee, M.A.

IT Researcher

 

Ms. Lee is designing and conducting research projects, analyzing data, and documenting findings to contribute to the organization's technological advancements. The primary goal is to create new knowledge and intellectual property that drives future innovation and competitive advantage.

Ms. Yoony
Choi

Operations Manager

Ms. Choi is managing administrative processes, supervising human resources and support staff, and coordinating financial and accounting tasks. The primary goal is to ensure all internal business operations run smoothly and effectively to support the center's strategic objectives.
